A round ceramic teapot, modeled after the title character of the Studio Ghibli animated film “My Neighbor Totoro,” sits on a windowsill. The body of the teapot matches Totoro’s grey fur, white belly markings, and joyful expression, with a spout coming out the left side. A small soot sprite sits on the lid between Totoro’s ears, and a white mini-Totoro sits on the green braided handle coming out on the right side.

Ceramics

A Ghibli-themed teapot made of white stoneware (using both wheel and handbuilding techniques), decorated with underglaze, and fired in a reduction kiln.

Artist Statement

I started playing with ceramics last year and really love seeing the transformation of something incredibly malleable into a sturdy, unchanging form. I also love cooking/baking, crochet, and the occasional dabble in watercolors!
