For four centuries, Giudecca Canal regattas marked the end of the 1576 plague. Post-COVID-19, how can we draw inspiration from this tradition to collectively remember and move forward with resilience and unity?

Artist Statement

Julián Cancino found his passion for film photography at the Brookline Adult and Community Education program. His pictures explore themes of memory and disease, with a special focus on Italy’s commemoration of the 1576 plague.
