Pilgrimage Into Power

Embroidery

Cloth is a space to be still & listen as much as to play & engage parts of myself that don’t get much sunlight in the day job. It’s a place I can think things through. This triptych is an exploration of wisdom passed along from the world of spirit.

Large pale blue cloth with various swatches of cloth and silk chord sewn one, as well as wool felted on, and embroidered in places. It look like an abstract marshland with the moon shining down.

Byfield Marshes

Applique, felting, embroidery

The marsh bio-region of coastal Massachusetts is my happy place, a landscape that opens easily into the imaginal. This magic marsh is appliqued, felted, and embroidered onto a beautiful linen napkin, which I hand dyed, belonging to my grandmother.

Artist Statement

Outside of my day-job at Harvard, I am a certified spiritual guide and fiber artist. My work is informed by my own spiritual praxis. I love the mixed media opportunities of modern day embroidery.
