A ceramic piece reminiscent of a cake stand, characterized by a textured surface. It is predominantly blue with white accents and features a glazed finish, giving it a slightly rustic appearance. The base is round, adorned with decorative holes around the perimeter and a series of raised bumps that add detail. The top surface is flat and wide, with one portion containing more white material, likely a glue substance that has been spread across.

Cake stand #1

Brown stoneware clay, high fired in Reduction Gas Kiln

This functional piece is the first of a series, trying to combine 2 functional pieces, a plate and a bowl, to elevate a delicious cake or dessert.

Artist Statement

I have been working in clay at the Harvard Ceramic Studio since 2002. I am mostly hand-building my pieces or combining wheel-throwing and hand-building.
